Walk Where Maine Artists Walked - See What Maine Artists Saw
Portland, ME (PRWEB) February 26, 2010 -- Maine Day Trip (http://www.mainedaytrip.com) has introduced a new day trip excursion tour combining American artists' painting locations with a visit to the Portland Museum of Art. After investigating specific and similar Maine scenic locations where some of America's greatest artists, such as Winslow Homer and Edward Hopper, painted; the tour will visit Maine's prestigious Portland Museum of Art to view the artists' work. When available, a museum docent, in collaboration with the Portland Museum of Art (http://www.portlandmuseum.org), will be arranged for the museum visit to further enhance this memorable experience.
This full day tour "Walk Where Maine Artists Walked" includes the opportunity to explore areas along the coast from which paintings were made and then view the artists' results at the museum. This tour is also customizable for specific art interests. Visit Black Point Inn (1878) in Prouts Neck, close to Winslow Homer's studio (1883-1910), for a light lunch and cliff walk at the ocean.
A separate excursion to Cushing, Maine to visit "Christina's World" Olson House can be combined with the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, Maine. While Andrew Wyeth's "Christina's World" (1948) is located at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, there are many other Wyeth's to enjoy at the Farnsworth and Wyeth Center in Rockland, Maine.
